Invitation to Bid
Septic System Replacement
The Town of Jay is seeking bids from contractors to furnish all labor, material, tools, transportation, insurance and incidentals which are reasonably required to construct and complete the installation of a replacement septic system in the Town of Jay, Franklin County. The work will be funded by the DEP Small Community Grant Program and the work will be subject to special requirements of the DEP. The project shall be substantially complete by June 1, 2025, with final completion by June 30, 2025.
Bid Documents are available at the Jay Town Office, 340 Main Street, Jay, ME during regular business hours Monday – Thursday 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM or on the Town of Jay website at www.jay-maine.org under Notices.
Bids are to be in sealed envelopes clearly marked “2025 Septic System Bid” and are due by Thursday, February 6th at 2:00 PM at the Jay Town Office and will be opened publicly at that time. Bids submitted via email, fax, or any other way than in a sealed, marked envelope will not be accepted. Following the bid opening, bids will be reviewed by the DEP and then awarded at a future Select Board meeting, date to be determined.
Bidding contractors shall be regularly engaged in the installation of septic systems and must provide three references related to septic system installations. The successful contractor shall sign an Independent Contractor Agreement and provide proof of general liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 that names the Town of Jay as an additional insured and, if applicable, workers compensation insurance in the state statutory amount prior to commencement of work.
The Town of Jay reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. The successful bidder shall be selected based on the ability to fulfill the project as described for the cost deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.
